5 active Ingredients For healthy & glowing skin after 30

Who said maturing skin can’t be healthy?

By Ria Bhatia

In the present times, skincare has become a part of everybody’s day-to-day life. Especially after the pandemic — that left one and all to themselves and stirred a silent evolution of self-care like never before; everybody has become a skincare buff.

Whether a downsized and minimal skincare routine or an elaborate 10-step one, all of us have chewed over it and worked out a routine.

Bakuchiol

Retinol has been touted as the ultimate anti-ageing ingredient across the globe, but it’s bakuchiol for us that makes it to this list. Bakuchiol is retinol’s plant-based alternative that is efficacious as well as gentle. Pregnancy-safe, natural and milder on the skin, bakuchiol can do everything that retinol does; it not only diminishes existing fine lines and wrinkles but also prevents them. Additionally, it can also reduce acne (since it unclogs pores), fade spots and give the skin a texture-free look.

Koqal’s tip: Make bakuchiol a part of your PM routine and always follow up with moisturizer copiously.

Vitamin C

What’s the most common skin concern amongst women in their 30s? Lacklustre skin — we hear you! As time passes, your skin’s glow and youthfulness start shrinking, thanks to all the damage caused by the sun, pollution and a sedentary lifestyle. Plus, cell turnover also decreases, maximising the chances of hyperpigmentation. Enter vitamin C, the super potent antidote for dullness, dark spots and unhealthy-looking skin. The antioxidant keeps environmental damage at bay, speeds up cell regeneration and brightens up the skin. All in all, it energises your skin and makes you glow, baby, glow.

Koqal’s tip: If you’re opting for vit C in your AM routine, ALWAYS follow up with sunscreen.

Peptides

Peptides > hyaluronic acid. There, we said it. If lifeless skin is haunting you, peptides are the key to unlocking the plumpest skin. Composing a chain of amino acids, peptides accelerate the collagen and elastin production in your skin; as the production of these vital proteins goes up, your skin appears tauter, firmer, softer, smoother and younger. Peptides also release a gush of moisture into the skin.

Koqal’s tip: Look for creams and serums that contain peptides, collagen and hyaluronic acid to boost the efficacy.

Rosehip Oil

If you’ve run away from oils all your life, this is the time to embrace them with open hearts. Rosehip oil is one of the most lightweight oils that suits all skin types. The non-comedogenic oil is often called ‘dry’ oil as it absorbs into the skin before you know it. Packed with essential fatty acids and vitamin A and C, rosehip oil provides endless nourishment and an even skin tone and also offers anti-acne benefits, making it a great bedtime elixir if you’re dealing with adult acne.

Koqal’s tip: In the night, take 2-3 drops of Koqal’s Rosehip Oil and massage till it disappears into the skin completely.
