How to use facial oils in summers

Updated: Apr 30

Summers are around the corner. And with that comes the question about choosing the right skincare routine. People are often concerned about using heavy products that can react to their skin. Ofcourse, with all the sweating and heat, we can also run the risk of developing clogged pores.

This is where facial oils act as an excellent summer skincare product. Here are 3 reasons why you can opt for facial oils this coming summer.

1. Why use facial oils in the summer?

There is a general misconception that facial oils are heavy and thick for your summer skin.

On the contrary, facial oils are actually light and maintain an everlasting glow. Oils like jojoba and rosehip are perfect in brightening and evening out skin tones.

Aside from hydrating your skin, facial oils can also provide some relief in the form of sun protection.

Jojoba oil, when combined with Vitamin E can also soothe sunburns.

2. Can they be used for oily skin types?

This is a question we often get from our customers. Given the local conditions in India, some of our customers run the risk of overproducing too much oil, even during the summer months.

This ties in with the misconception that facial oils can aggravate skin conditions like acne, clogged pores, and other skin issues for those that produce too much sebum.

But facial oils are really helpful in also regulating the amount of oil your skin produces. Jojoba oil and rosehip oil have the least amount of comodogenic properties. This is important for a first time facial oil user because this means that they don’t clog your pores.

Rosehip oil has a comedogenic rating of 1. It’s an easy and lightweight oil to absorb.

Jojoba oil and rosehip oil both have a rating of 2 out of 5 and 1 out of 5 on the comedogenic scale. This makes them an excellent choice for those with oily skin types!

3. How to incorporate facial oils into your summer skincare routine?

Use it as a moisturizer: In summer, you don’t need a heavy cream moisturizer, and a facial oil can provide the necessary hydration to your skin without feeling heavy. Apply a few drops of facial oil on your face after cleansing and toning.

Mix it with your sunscreen: Adding a few drops of facial oil to your sunscreen can not only make it easier to apply but also provide added moisture and nourishment to your skin.

Use it as a facial massage oil: Facial oils can be great for facial massage, which can help to stimulate blood flow, reduce puffiness, and promote lymphatic drainage. Apply a few drops of facial oil on your face and massage gently for a few minutes.

Use it as a hair oil: Some facial oils like the Care oil can also be used as hair oils to nourish and moisturize your hair.Apply a few drops of facial oil to your hair and massage gently.
